Bristol Steppin Sistas 2025
We welcome back Bristol Steppin Sistas.
Bristol Steppin Sistas is a grassroots walking group established in Bristol in April 2021. It was founded by Sophia Brown, a Bristol-based event planner, with the aim of encouraging women of colour to explore the outdoors in a safe and inclusive environment.
The group organizes regular walks, ranging from short strolls to longer treks, to motivate women to visit places they might not have ventured to before, including rural areas around Bristol and further afield in the South West. The goal is to help women step out of their comfort zones, enjoy nature, and engage in conversations and creative reflections with others who share similar experiences of discrimination and disadvantage.
They also host events like the International Women’s Day Walk, Father & Sons Short Stroll, and even a Glastonbury Tor/Picnic/Sunset Party. It’s all about uplifting and enriching the lives of women of colour through walking and social connection.
