Nirbhasa Magee — Self‑Transcendence 3100
Nirbhasa Magee is a five‑time finisher of the Sri Chinmoy Self‑Transcendence 3100 Mile Race — the world’s longest certified footrace. Originally from Ireland and now based in Iceland, he has completed this extraordinary event in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2023, running an average of 60 miles a day for 52 days around a single city block.
His journey into ultra‑distance running began not from athletic ambition but from a deepening meditation practice. A former theoretical physicist, Nirbhasa discovered running as a natural extension of inner discipline and self‑exploration. Over the years he has completed multi‑day races including the 6‑Day and 10‑Day events in New York, where he first felt the inner call to attempt the 3100.
In this talk, Nirbhasa shares the inner and outer lessons of extreme endurance: how meditation supports resilience, how the mind quiets during long multi‑day efforts, and what it means to explore your limits in a way that is grounded, joyful, and transformative. His story offers a rare, human insight into a race few people on earth have ever completed — and what it teaches about focus, surrender, and the light that comes from within.
