The Sri Chinmoy Filton 5 is growing! To accommodate the increased number of runners, we’re delighted to announce that the Bristol Sri Chinmoy Races organisers will be helping us host this year’s event. To celebrate this growth and strengthen our community ties, we’re renaming it the Sri Chinmoy Filton 5k. This links us to a network of Sri Chinmoy races in Bristol, the UK, and around the world, including the extraordinary Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 mile race in New York

Sri Chinmoy was a spiritual Teacher, who was also a keen runner and saw running as part of his philosophy of ‘Self-Transcendence’.
“Running helps us considerably. Running is continuous motion. Because of our running, we feel that there is a goal — not only an outer goal but also an inner goal.”
Sri Chinmoy, who created the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in 1977, ran several marathons and a few ultra-marathons. His best time for the marathon was 3:55:07 in Toledo Ohio, 1979.

Many thanks to the Bristol Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team.
