Nikki Love – Chasing Extraordinary
Nikki Love at the Bristol Running Show
Nikki Love is an endurance runner, adventurer, author and speaker whose work sits well beyond the comfort zone of conventional racing. Her projects are long, demanding and unglamorous at times — the kind of challenges that test consistency, judgement and mental resilience over weeks rather than hours.
One of her most defining achievements is her run across Australia, covering thousands of kilometres over consecutive days. Crucially, this was not a solo endeavour. Nikki was supported and crewed throughout by her partner, Sharif Odwally, whose role was central to the success of the project. Managing logistics, safety, daily planning and decision-making on the road, Sharif formed half of a tightly run two-person operation — a reminder that endurance at this scale is always a team effort.
Alongside her running, Nikki has written several books exploring adventure, mindset and what it means to commit fully to an idea. She has also built a small independent business, Chasing Extraordinary, which brings together her speaking, writing and community work around the theme of pursuing meaningful, long-term goals.
More recently, Nikki has taken her long-standing interest in the mental side of endurance into formal study and is currently undertaking a degree in psychology. This academic work adds structure and language to insights already earned through experience: how motivation is sustained, how doubt is managed, and how people continue when the initial excitement has long gone.
At this year’s Bristol Running Show, Nikki will be sharing stories and lessons drawn from both her endurance running and the realities behind it — including the importance of preparation, partnership and persistence. Her talk will appeal to runners who understand that endurance is as much about organisation and support as it is about physical ability.
