This Woman Runs – Building Bristol Confidence
We are very pleased to announce that This Woman Runs returns to the Bristol Running Show. This group has a special connection to the event. In fact, founder Mel Bound was a part of our very first show in Bristol.
The History of the Movement What started as a simple Facebook post by Mel in 2014 has grown into a significant UK-wide movement. At that time, she was simply seeking a local running partner who wouldn’t judge her for being “slow or sweaty.” Today, they operate in cities across the country. However, their presence in Bristol remains a core part of their identity.
A Focus on Confidence and Strength The group’s focus is not on podiums or pace. Instead, they work on breaking down the barriers that often prevent women from starting a running habit. They provide a safe space where women can build confidence. Consequently, members can develop physical strength at their own pace, free from the pressure of competition.
What They Bring to the Bristol Community

A “Zero-to-Hero” Approach: They support women who are completely new to running or returning after a long break.

Volunteer-Led Runs: These are local, social runs. They are led by qualified volunteers who understand the importance of a supportive environment.

Grounded Support: The group focuses on mental and physical wellbeing. Therefore, they prioritize moving together in a safe, non-judgmental space.

Event Details Doors open at 9am on Sunday, 29 March at the BAWA Leisure Centre. The Flton 5k funrun starts at 10:00. Bring your people and make a day of it. Finally, let’s celebrate the running community that makes Bristol what it is.
